Dear Friends in Christ our King,
On behalf of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, I would like to first and foremost wish you all a blessed new year of 2023.
This first day of the new year marks the octave day of the Nativity. The Nativity is a feast which is dear to our spiritual patron, St. Francis de Sales. It is the fruit of the mystery of the Incarnation. Through the Incarnation, “Our Lord has made us see which otherwise the human mind could hardly have imagined or understood,” writes the saint. “God was man and man God: the immortal, mortal; the one incapable of suffering, suffering.”
As we turned from St. Francis de Sales to the feast of Christmas, we now look through Christmas to our beloved saint. This Christmas season, continuing in the month of January, culminates in his glorious feast day on January 29. It was at the beginning of this Christmas season, too, that we celebrated the milestone of the 400th anniversary of the death of this heavenly patron on December 28.
