By the Grace of the Way and of the Truth

Dear Friends in Christ our King,
We find ourselves already at the month of October, which is traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Mother, especially to her Most Holy Rosary. We also have the great joy of celebrating the Feast of Christ the King, the patronal feast of the Institute, on October 31.
The Kingship of Christ on earth is constantly threatened by the assaults of the devil working upon human society. Men turn themselves away from God in order to pay homage elsewhere. Therefore, it is all the more necessary that Christ our King be placed back in the center of our lives and to be given the honor that He deserves. It is with these sentiments that Pope Pius XI instituted the feast of Christ the King in 1925. We find ourselves almost one hundred years after the institution of this feast, and society still continues to stray further from Our King. Therefore, we find ourselves all the more needing to submit ourselves to His reign.
In order to promulgate the reign of Christ amidst its many enemies, we need good allies. Among the most powerful aids to our effort, apart from Christ Himself, is His own Blessed Mother. She has the "grace of the way and of the truth", as we sing in the Offertory of the feast of the Holy Rosary. Let us not fear that the devout recitation of the Rosary might diminish the honor due to Our Lord. Rather, in honoring His blessed mother, we especially honor Our Lord who was born of her and raised by her.
May we then remain focused on the Infant King this coming month as we strive to honor Him as we should. He has already granted us so many blessings in our daily lives. Let us therefore render him thanks, offering Him our gratitude and presenting Him our prayers and needs. It is with these intentions that I wish to have a national novena of gratitude to the Infant King that will take place later this month, in the nine days leading up to the feast of Christ the King. You are most welcome to join us as we offer our thanks and prayers to Him who has done so much for us.

Ordinations at the Seminary
New Subdeacons and Deacons
On September 14, the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, His Excellency Luciano Giovannetti ordained four new deacons as well as four new subdeacons during the course of a beautiful Pontifical High Mass in the Institute's church of Saints Michael and Cajetan in Florence, Italy. Deo gratias!

Feast of the Nativity of Mary in Wausau
Veneration of the Maria Bambina
The lovely and ancient feast of the birth of Our Blessed Lady on September 8 has become ever more dear to our hearts since the foundation of the Convent of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Wausau, Wisconsin.
The Sister Adorers in Wausau are blessed to have in their convent chapel an antique Italian wax figure of Maria Bambina, the infant Mary adorned in ornate swaddling clothes. For her feast day, she was brought to St Mary's Oratory for a High Mass and the public veneration of the faithful.

Prayerful Recollection
Oblate Retreat in Marytown
The annual retreat for the Institute's oblates took place from September 20th to the 24th at the National Shrine of St. Maximilian Kolbe in Marytown, Illinois. During this week, these 10 men spent time in personal prayer, participation in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the common recitation of the Divine Office, along with spiritual conferences preached by Canon Huberfeld.
Please continue to pray for these men, valuable aides in the vineyard of the Lord who work alongside our canons!

Building Our Provincial Shrine of Christ the King
Electrical and Plumbing Installation
Work begins on the first part of Phase II to excavate and grade the interior
Thanks to the great generosity and enthusiasm from our friends and benefactors from around the United States, the first part of Phase II restoration began in late August at the Shrine. This work involved excavation and grading of the interior floor, as well as installation of electrical conduits and plumbing. This will be followed by installation of the radiant heating system into the floor prior to pouring the massive concrete slab.
Workers also began excavating areas which will be the sacraria for the altars in the church. The sacraria are special sinks used for the reverent disposal of sacred substances. They have drains that empty directly into the earth, rather than into the sewer system.
Part 1 of Phase II will provide a 6” thick, structural concrete slab to the church’s narthex, nave, sanctuary, and basement as a foundation for the subsequent steps in Phase II.

Members have the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered for them every Sunday and are prayed for especially during the Perpetual Novena in honor of St. Therese of the Child Jesus offered at our U.S. Provincial Headquarters.
